The thing I like about Wiscon, the thing I’ve always liked about Wiscon, is that it is like oxygen to those thoughts and ideas that challenge patriarchy, consumerism, commercialism, capitalism and popular culture. Yup, you are not crazy. Other people see the same things. The last time we went to this feminist science fiction convention was 20 years ago, and it seems that they have only made things better, with anarchist and marxist booksellers snuggled in alongside SF booksellers and Harry Potter T-shirts, with social justice panels, with a decidedly proactive set of rules that place first peoples and marginalized communities at the front of the line and policies that remove class barriers to participation. It is a science fiction convention like no other.
