Lots of amazing comics are yours for the taking at comic shops across the nation this Saturday. The craziest scene by far will be at Carol and John’s Comics on the Westside, but our own Imaginary Worlds Comics will be representing the Eastside.
At Imaginary Worlds, festivities run from 10 am until 9 pm with cosplayers, free comics, store discounts, Girl Scout cookies and appearances by Ted Sikora, creator of APAMA and Caleb Thusat, the creator of Alter Life. The shop is located at 13446 Cedar Rd, Cleveland Heights, Ohio across from Melt and Critical Hit Games.
On the west side of town, Carol and John’s Comic Shop at 17462 Lorain Avenue offers what can only amount to a minor convention. Starting Friday night, May the Fourth be with you as Star Wars cosplay groups, the 501st, Rebel Legion, and the Mandalorian Mercs will be in costume along with Hero Alliance for photographs during a 10 pm to 2 am early release event that even features a pop-up bar. On Saturday, May 5, from 10 am until 7 pm, 22 local artists will be sketching and over 30,000 comics will be given away. Rubber City Cosplay will be on hand with their photo booth. As a special treat, Jim Steranko is being flown in. Steranko’s art, especially his dynamic covers, mark a distinct generation of comics.
So there you have it, either side of town offers you a spectacularly vibrant and geeky outing that will appeal to fans of any age.
